PLASE
2024 – 2027
“Learning to Leave” is a tendency supported by societal norms and prejudice towards those who remain in rural areas – such as many in Region Zealand. People who remain (“stayers”) are often thought of as having low social capital and no significant education.
The PLASE project’s main purpose is to change this narrative by focusing on place-based education, that connects students to local culture, history, and possibilities.
The goal is to create awareness, and to support authentic, practical learning – which also shows coherence with European identity.
The hope is to promote openness and social inclusion, as well as strengthen the cooperation between education providers in these areas. Since a significant percentage of “stayers” does not participate in the traditional education system this new approach should also promote social inclusion and diversity.
Specific goals:
To implement place-based education in local education organizations in rural areas, thus creating innovative learning centres, that can increase the capacity for local education providers, community, companies and workplaces to cooperate.
Building experience and developing learning materials that are inspiring and relevant to rural areas in all of EU.
